Hello!

My journey as a therapist began at the University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Education, where I encountered the person-centered approach under the guidance of Dr. Morio Saji and Dr. Takao Murase, both inspiring figures in my development. The work of Axline, Landreth in play therapy, and Natalie Rogers in expressive therapy further ignited my passion for this field. My greatest teachers, however, have been my family, especially my children, and the clients I've met throughout my career.

For over 30 years, I've had the privilege of teaching clinical psychology at Tokyo Women's University. This experience, along with my clinical work, has reinforced the belief that just as there are diverse clients, there should be diverse approaches to support them.

Understanding and Supporting Emotional Trauma:

I specialize in helping individuals cope with emotional trauma caused by experiences such as abuse, bullying, loss, accidents, or disasters. It's important to understand that emotional scars are not a sign of weakness; they are a natural response to difficult experiences. We can learn to live with these scars, reclaim ourselves, and build fulfilling lives.

My work has led me to focus on supporting survivors of abuse, bullying, and individuals with special developmental needs like autism spectrum disorder. Recognizing the struggles faced by LGBTQ+ individuals and their families, we also offer specialized support services for this community.

Creating a Safe Space for Seeking Help:

In today's society, seeking help can sometimes be seen as a sign of weakness. We aim to create a safe space where individuals can comfortably express their need for support. True support isn't about someone "fixing" you; it's about walking alongside you as you reclaim your life.

Building BONDS: A Legacy of Connection

We are honored to have taken over the practice of Junko Kimura and Dr. Andrew Grime, continuing their legacy of Tokyo Counseling Services in Shimokitazawa. Under the new name BONDS, signifying "to connect," we will carry forward their spirit of connection and collaboration. Our team of experienced counselors is dedicated to providing you with the support and guidance you need to live a connected and fulfilling life.
